Uniform Code 2017

We would like to take this opportunity as the school grows to remind all parents of the importance of our school uniform to the ethos of our school and the setting of an appropriate tone both in school and importantly, when our children wear their uniform outside of school, as they act as ambassadors for High View. At High View we believe that school uniform is important for the following reasons:

  • It helps to foster a sense of belonging to the school community.

  • It enables a child not only to identify with but also to be seen as a member of the school.

  • It helps children to understand that school is important and should be taken seriously.

  • It assures both parent and teacher that the child is wearing clothes that are smart and sensible, and helps remove the potential problems that fashion and competition could bring about.

The wearing of school uniform is a key part of school life and our uniform code is strongly enforced. On entering school parents and pupils sign the Home School Agreement which emphasizes this aspect of the school’s expectations.

Our uniform should instill pride; support positive behaviour and discipline; encourage identity with, and support for, school ethos; ensure pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome; protect children from social pressures to dress in a particular way; and nurture cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of pupils. Above all, many schools believe that school uniform supports effective teaching and learning.

In writing our school uniform code we have worked to ensure that our school uniform is both inexpensive, that it is easy to find retailers who sell appropriate items and above all that it is practical. Uniform can be purchased online or via the telephone from our uniform provider Mapac.  We hold a sample of the school uniform on the school site; details of how to order uniform are as below.
